Blackstone Chambers, the City of London home to leading barristers, commissioned Morey Smith Architects to re-energise and provide a 21st-century office accommodation for barristers and their legal teams. The refurbishment and repair of the buildings at 1&2 Garden Court and Blackstone House in central London, had to be in keeping their Grade II listed buildings heritage.
For Blackstone House we were asked to help achieve the new contemporary glazed atrium which would connect both Victorian properties, with the aim to improve the ambience and help provide a space for all barristers to come together.
We crafted the glass link atrium, plus vertical windows and doors. This bespoke solution matched the aspirations of the original concept providing extensive natural sunlight and crate a vibrant concourse between the two properties. The glass atrium helped to redefine design and functionality, enriching the space of this important building.
